Mimio is a great tool to connect students and teacher through high technology, but I enjoy it for it's ability to produce a schedule for students to follow. The schedule shows students everything they need to complete during the lesson, and where to find it in their Mimio lesson tile. Then it shows all of the things they can do when finished, and where to find it. This helps students have self-regulation in that they are responsible for their actions and have to be independent.
The voice-o-meter allows students to see where their speaking volume should be at and thus allows them to regulate themselves accordingly. The teacher has a minimal amount of guidance in this, it is up to the student to keep their voice in the proper range, which tests their self-regulation.
Student or learner diaries are a great way for students to reflect on how they learn, what they learned, and what frustrations they still have. This is a great way for teachers to try and learn about their students when they have a larger class, or when they have students who are too shy or non-verbal to speak about their thoughts. This helps students self-regulate as they have to take a look at themselves and decide what they are doing well and what still needs work.
Time stamps are a great way for students to regulate how much time they spend on something. The teacher stamps the clock and either the teacher or students draws in what they classroom clock will look like when their time is up for something. This works well because students do not need to be able to tell time, they just need to see when the clocks match up. This helps students remember that they only have so much time for an assignment, so they have to regulate themselves to get their work finished on time.
Hot dots are a way for students to get instant feedback about math problems. This connects to the principle of self-regulation, as students are in charge of their own feedback. Students first attempt the problem, then plug the pen into the solution they feel is correct, and if wrong the pen automatically tells them.
